Final task: A little bit about my drawing process

I will now give a quick introduction of how the comic came to be. Scripting. Or "Scripting" I did not make a proper script for the comic, since it felt more like a continuous rant. What I did do, however, is divide the text in sections involving different subject matters: Jones' introduction and history Jones' world view: The New World Order Jones' business model The Pizzagate Sandy Hook school shooting and defamation suits Recent developments and final words With this basic structure, and my finished blogposts, it was easy to slap text onto Photoshop, and think what imagery to use. Sketching and assembly To save time, I decided to draw the entire comic in Photoshop. I drew few sketches with pencil, but decided to ease the process and do the sketching on Photoshop as well. Since I needed a lot of pictures of Jones, I started by sketching different Alex Joneses in a separate PSD. I have to say, the essence of his look was really hard...

Final task: So what to do about fake news and misinformation?

In the end, I didn't have much time to think about solutions to the problem of misinformation and the fake news. So unfortunately this was a topic I didn't include in the comic, which makes my work more like an introduction to Alex Jones rather than something more profound. That is not to say I didn't read anything on the topic. Stop the centrism In my comic I mention briefly that Jones has been banned from Twitter, Facebook, Apple, YouTube, and Spotify, and that the less Alex Jones has platforms the better. This might seem like an odd statement considering Jones' followers: if the followers already think there is a conspiracy against them, does it help to silence Jones? Should we instead try to bring Jones to our level to have discourse and try to change his views through other methods? I feel like this idea of centrism is very present in today's media discourse. One example is the recent comments by the main reporter from Yle, who said that he would like t...

Robert Beatty

I have way too much to do this week, so this post will be short and sweet. I just wanted to talk about one of my favourite artists, Robert Beatty. Robert Beatty is an American illustrator, artists and musician, who is probably best known for his work on album covers for artists like Tame Impala, Kesha, Ariel Pink and Real Estate to name a few. His work is distinctive for it's surreal and psychedelic feel, and his way of making very traditional looking designs with digital software. Besides album covers he has also done music videos and illustrations for magazines. What I love about his work are the bold compositions, his use of patterns and the way his designs vary from being very simple with lots of space to being cluttered with little details. His airbrushy technique makes for such a strongly retro-futuristic vibe I was really surprised to find out that he works almost solely with digital softwares like Illustrator and Photoshop. This guy is a huge influence fo...
